11-29-13 Drove to pickup dinner in 2014 Nissan Versa SV - avg mpg 32.4

On 11-28-13, I drove to see my family and to bring them some of the food that I had cooked for Thanksgiving.  The total miles that I drove that day were 64.9.  The average miles per gallon went up to 32.4.  The top speed was 65 mph.  There are estimated to be 356 miles remaining on the 8th tank of gasoline.  The ending odometer was 1987.

11-26-13 and 11-27-13 - Errands for Thanksgiving and Christmas shopping in 2014 Nissan Versa SV - up to 32.2 avg mpg

I forgot to record the mileage for 11-26-13, but I remember where I drove.  I will combine an entry for both days here.

on 11-26-13, I went to Whataburger for a fast food breakfast. Then, I visited my parents. Next, on the way back, I shopped for supplies at Wal Mart.  I also went to Arby's for a fast food lunch.  Next, I went to get gasoline.  Then, I went to the Village shopping center to do some Christmas shopping. I also stopped in where my sister in law works and visited with her and her daughter for a few minutes.

On the way home, I stopped at the grocery store for some last minute Thanksgiving meal items.

On 11-27-13, I went to Target for some supplies.  I also picked up a couple of Christmas presents there, too.

Total miles for both days was 67.5.  Top speed was 65 mph.  Average mpg went up to 32.2.  There were estimated to be 362 miles remaining on the 8th tank of gasoline. Ending odometer was 1922 miles.

11-25-13 Errands in 2014 Nissan Versa SV - 29.2 miles driven today - Average mpg 31.9

On 11-25-13, I ran a lot of errands.  First, I went to the doctor's office for some blood tests.  Then, I went to a different pet store to use the 10% coupon that I forgot to use before.  They had more selection than our local pet store.  I did not like driving the extra miles, but I did get the dog treats that I had wanted, and I saved 10%.  Next, I went to Bed Bath and Beyond to get heavy drapes for our bedroom.  We are having some drafty windows.  The drapes did help with the draft.  

On the way home from shopping, I stopped at the Chinese drive through place and got some egg drop soup.  

Total miles for these trips was 29.2.  The average speed was 60 miles per hour.  The average mpg was 31.9.  There are estimated to be 100 miles remaining on the 7th tank of gasoline.  The ending odometer was 1854.

On 11-24-13, I drove to the pet store to get some dog treats for our dog. Then, I went to Kroger for groceries.  Next, I got burgers for us at Burger Street.  The burgers were a little greasy.

Total miles for these trips was 5.9.  Average miles per gallon was 31.9.  Top speed was 35 mph.  There were 124 miles remaining on the 7th tank of gasoline.  The ending odometer was 1825.

11-23-13 Date Night - 20.1 mile trip in 2014 Nissan Versa SV and 31.9 avg mpg

On 11-23-13, we drove to the China Town shopping center to have some sushi.  It was very nice. There were only 2 other couples in the restaurant. They left, and then we had the whole place to ourselves like celebrities. It was a wonderful meal.

Then, on a lark, we went into the Chinese grocery store and looked at every aisle.  We saw a lot of exotic things, and tried to understand the packaging on some of the items on the shelves. They had very large bags of rice and dried peppers.  It seemed to be good prices, too.

Then, we went to Krispy Kreme, but they were out of glazed doughnuts.  On the way home, we stopped at a service station so my fiance could get cigarettes.

Wonderful evening out. Total miles for this trip was 20.1.  The average miles per gallon was 31.9.  There were 140 miles remaining on the 7th tank of gasoline.  The ending odometer was 1819.

11-21-2013 Two errands in 2014 Nissan Versa SV

On 11-21-2013, I drove to pick up take out sushi, and then to the grocery store after we ate the sushi.  I drove 7 miles total.  The average speed was 30 mph.  The average mpg remained at 31.9.  There are estimated to be 168 miles remaining on the 7th tank of gasoline.  The ending odometer was 1799.

11-20-13 Trip to the dog park in 2014 Nissan Versa SV

We drove to the dog park and back home on 11-20-13.  Total trip was 12.9 miles.  It may have been shorter, but the main road was closed due to road works. It seems that there is no way to get in or out of the neighborhood without going through a construction zone now.

Sunday, 11-17-13 drove 17.1 miles with avg mpg 31.9 in 2014 Nissan Versa SV

On Sunday, 11-17-13, I ran errands.  I went to the Pet store near our home, but they were out of bully sticks.  Then, I went to the post office to mail a Thanksgiving card for my nephew.  Next, I went to a different pet store to get food for the dog, since I had a 15% off coupon.  It was still expensive for the food, even with the coupon.  I also got a toy for the dog.

Next, I went to Target, as it is the only store where I can find the plain strawberry gogurt that my fiance likes.  Last, I went to Kroger for groceries.  I also found some slippers for my fiance.

Totals miles driven today were 17.1.  Average speed was 40 mph.  Average mpg was 31.9.  There are estimated to be 224 miles remaining on the 7th tank of gasoline.  The ending odometer was 1767.

Saturday, 11-16-2013, drove 28.2 miles with avg mpg at 31.9.

On Saturday, 11-16-2013, I drove in the morning to the chiropractor's office to try to settle my bill.  They billed my insurance for items that I did not receive.  The office manager was not there. I was embarrassed because I became emotional and cried, since I was so upset.  I am still upset.  Then, we drove for a late lunch at Outback Steakhouse.  We enjoyed the lunch.  

Top speed was 60 mph.  Miles for this trip was 28.2.  Average mpg was 31.9.  There are estimated to be 252 miles remaining on the 7th tank of gasoline.  Ending odometer was 1750.

Update 11-15-2013 - Average 30.276 miles per gallon and gasoline purchased for 2014 Nissan Versa SV with 1721 miles on the odometer

The first tank of gas was put in by the dealership when I purchased the 2014 Nissan Versa SV on 7/4/2013.  I don't know if the tank was completely full or what the fuel cost.  The first time that I recorded the estimated miles remaining on 7/8/2013, the car estimated 207 miles remaining on the first tank.

So far, I have purchased 66.356 gallons of gas in total.  The average cost per gallon was $3.09 before you factor in the free gas from the dealer.  I have driven 1721 miles in total, as of 11/15/2013.  Total cost of the fuel that I have personally paid is $172.47.

The chart below has details for the total gallons of gasoline for 7 tanks.  I am going to assume that the dealer filled up the 10.8 gallon tank completely at delivery.  There would be 66.356 gallons of gasoline in all 7 tanks, if 10.8 is correct for the first tank.  Most of my driving is at low speeds of 30-40 miles per hour for trips that are less than 10 miles round trip.

The car currently estimates that I can drive 288 more miles on the available fuel.  Add 288 to the 1721 miles driven, and we get 2009.  2009/66.356 = 30.276 avg mpg.  Most of my driving has been at 30-40 miles per hour, so this matches Nissan's claim of 30 mpg city driving.  I have never achieved the advertised 40 mpg highway driving, but I have only driven short highway trips (less than 60 miles round trip each time) at 60-65 mph.
